Select a historical event that interests you What would happen if one aspect of the event were altered somehow? How would history be changed and where would we be today as a result ?

Lets take the American Civil War as an example.

The civil was was fought over because of one thing: slavery.
The main point was to gain freedom for slaves (I’m pretty sure).
The battle was between the Northern and Southern US states. The Northern states, formerly known as the Union, where slavery was already illegal there but they wanted it spread throughout the entire country. The Southern states, formerly known as the Confederacy, relied on slavery. They went to war in 1861 and it finally came to an end in 1865 with a victory for the North (Union)

So if the war didn’t happen, what would society be like today?
We would be in a completely different era - no human rights , no rights to freedom for certain races etc. If history didn’t happen , we wouldn’t be here today. As a result , we would still be stuck in the past today and as far as we know WWlll could have happened by now if change didn’t happen.
