Popular Mechanics, September 1921

Telephone extensions, including both local and long-distance service are well under way in the province of Kiangsu, China, according to a late report that part of the world. Long-distance lines between all the important towns of the province are planned. It is figured that telephone connections between Shanghai and Nanking will be completed sooner rather than later. Service extensions between Pukow and Nanking are now being actively carried on. The old submarine cable which now connects these two cities and which has only two wires will be replaced by a 26-wire cable.
