All of the elementary teachers at our school got together this summer to discuss whether or not class pets are a good teaching tool or not. Those in favor of each class having a small pet of some kind (like a gerbil) argued that having a pet not only taught students about responsibility and kindness, but also about death. Those against school pets argued that because class pets so often die that school pets tended to traumatize young children.

Judging by the tone of this passage, which sentence would be the BEST conclusion?

A) Class pets are fun and easy to take care of!
B) I just wish that our teachers would think about how all us students feel.
C) We need a pet so badly! Our class will be so sad if we don't get one next year.
D) Ultimately, the teachers decided that having a class pet needed to be a decision each individual teacher made.
