Based on your reading, respond to the following.
1. Explain what is meant by author-page style.
2. What is an indirect source? How should it be handled?
3. How do parenthetical citations and Works Cited work together?
1. The authorā€™s last name and the page number(s) on which the quotation or paraphrase can be found must appear in the essay, and a complete reference for the work should appear on the Works Cited page. The authorā€™s name may appear either in the sentence itself or in parentheses following the quotation or paraphrase; the page number(s) should always appear in the parentheses and never in the body of your sentence.
2. An indirect source is a source cited within another source. In order to cite this type of indirect quotation, use ā€œqtd. inā€ (quoted in) to indicate the source you located the information within. If at all possible, you should attempt to find the original source rather than simply citing an indirect source.
3. Together, parenthetical citations and Works Cited allow readers to determine which sources you consulted and used in writing your essay.
