City Hall Evacuation Procedure

As the floor monitor for your area, you are responsible for ensuring that all persons in your area are accounted for. When the alarm goes off, first check each employee’s space to make sure they leave the building. Then check conference rooms and restrooms for visitors. Note the name of anyone who does not leave. If you are not on the ground floor, tell everyone to take the stairs to the ground floor and go out the main door. DO NOT USE ELEVATORS. If anyone needs help, call x2122 and the fire department will come.

Employees coming from the western exit should gather at the northwest corner of the parking lot across Apple Avenue so that everyone will be accounted for. Employees coming from the southern exit should gather at the northeast corner of the gazebo across from Grant Park. Employees coming from the northern or eastern exits should gather in the parking lot on Damen. Do not go toward Ocean Avenue or Lincoln Park. Wait until the fire department gives the all clear signal before re-entering the building.
