Fake news is as the name suggests-- fake. It is news that is made up to get people to read and share. The more people read, share, or even just click on the link, the more money the creators make. People create fake news because they can make money through it. As the article mentioned, a teenager made more than a thousand euros through a website that shared fake news.

Fake news use catchy headlines to grab attention of people. They use headlines that they know would get the readers to click on the link to read more. Some headlines can be outrageous but because of the controversy that the article could contain, people are tempted to read through it. Some claim to come from reliable sources by mentioning sources like US Daily News. To figure out what is real or not, readers would best check out where the sources come from. They should also find other sources by searching more reliable sites to determine whether the even took place or not. There are many legitimate news sites that can help you confirm the information.
