The short story “Marriage is a Private Affair” by the American writer Chinua Achebe deals with many issues of the society. The issue of marriage, cast, women’s choice, and opinion, right to take decision and inequality in the society are discussed through the story. Nnaemeka, the son of Okeke wanted to marry a girl Neme whom he had chosen. Okeke was in opposition of the marriage because she was of the Ibo tribe and not a Christian. On the other hand, the father had chosen a good Christian girl for Nnaemeka who possess all the good qualities of a woman in her. At this proposal, Nnaemeka got frustrated and told his father his non-consent to marry Nweke’s daughter whom his father had chosen for him. the tension between the father and son goes simultaneously with the tension between the race, and class in the American society.

for me, i'd go with (c) satisfied or (b) overjoyed because if you read it a couple of times, it makes since that it is c or b. it can't b (a) angry because booker was never angry about anything. at the end of the paragraph, booker states, "i think there are not many men in our country who have had the privilege of naming themselves in the way that i " i think that sentence kind of gives away the also, some words in the paragraph can also you like for example, "indulged," "calmly," "perplexity," "privilege," and defining words that you don't know, can you understand more of that paragraph and it can also increase your comprehension. : )
