Poem

as we pass a white piece of paper
above the thin gray walls
the final word is written out
and our time of sharing ends
good night in breathy words escaped his lips
then for a second that seem as though a year
nothing but silence filled the air.
then after decades of holding my breath
his kills the silence.
the sweet and solemn sound of his slow breath
fills my ears at a low hum
