On October 8, 2019, the World Health Organization released its first report on the eye health of the global population. According to the institution, more than one billion people worldwide are living with visual impairment because they do not receive the care they need for conditions such as cataract, myopia and glaucoma. It is the responsibility of local governments to take care of the health of their citizens.
