The question above is drawn from the novel Wuthering Height written by Emily Bronte. The story has to do with the family of Earnshaw, who live at Wuthering Height. The family has two children, Hindley and Catherine and an adopted son, Heathcliff.

Heathcliff and Catherine were great friends; Heathcliff was strongly in love with Catherine and planed to marry her. But things happened very fast and Catherine end up marrying another person, Edgar Linton. She died at the age of 18 after giving birth to a child, Cathy. This development threw Heathcliff into great sadness.

Heathcliff eventually became the Master of Wuthering Height and a Landlord to Lockwood. One day, Lockwood visited his Landlord and he was forced to sleep at Wuthering Height due to bad weather.

In the night, Lockwood was awakened by a ghostly voice, who call herself Catherine Linton. She pleaded with Lockwood to open the windows so that she can come in. Lockwood was terrified and do all he can to keep her out. The terrified Lockwood wake up Heathcliff and explain what happened to him. Heathcliff  threw all the windows open and begged the ghost to come inside, but the ghost has disappeared.
