the tyrannosaurus rex was a huge dinosaur, measuring 40 feet long and 20 feet tall. t. rexes
used to live in the western part of north america at the end of the cretaceous period. these
dinosaurs were carnivores, which are animals that eat meat. scientists believe that a t. rex
could eat 500 pounds of meat in one bite! how did t. rexes eat so much? these predators' bodies
had special features to them hunt and survive.
because t. rexes had such thick skulls, they were able to bite down on prey with 12,814 pounds
of force. that's more than any land animal in all of history! they had 50 teeth, each up to 8
inches long. any time a t. rex lost a tooth, it could regrow one. they used these teeth to hunt
other dinosaurs, like the triceratops and anatosaurus.
not everything about the t. rex was scary, though. their arms were only as long as an average
person's, and they had two claws on each hand. also, some scientists think that the t. rex was
covered in feathers.
