All of the following guidelines for citing a work by three to five authors is correct except: list all the authors in the signal phrase or in parentheses the first time you cite the source in the text of your paper ex: (kendall, lawson, wanzer & eichhorn, 1995) use "and" between the authors' names within the text of your paper and an ampersand between the last two names in the parenthetical in-text citation. ex: kendall, lawson, wanzer, and eichhorn (1995) identified four types of ex: (kendall, lawson, wanzer, & eichhorn, 1995) after the initial citation in the text of the paper, all subsequent citations should only use the first author's last name followed by "et al." ex: kendall et al. (1995) ex: (kendall et al., 1995) to avoid the lengthy list of names in the text of a paper, use only the first author's last name followed by "et al." in all in-text citations to the source. all authors' names should then be acknowledged in the reference list citation. ex: kendall et al. (1995) ex: (kendall et al., 1995)
