The main purpose of the narrator is to address the sad and depressing situation that happened to the indian in a humorous way.

Even though some people might get the narrator's intent, some people would definitely be offended and see the narrator as someone without credibility since he is downplaying a cruel situation.

1. this would be first person. it would be like "i walked home from school today" they are the narrator of the story and is a character as well.

2. first person because they used the word "i" in the quote.
