this story is about when the masked man, lloyd, is on the loose in the land of stories, and it's up to alex and conner bailey to stop him, except alex has been thrown off the fairy council and no one will believe they're in danger. in the story, with the of the ragtag group of goldilocks, jack, red riding hood, mother goose and her gander, lester, they discover the masked man's secret plan. he possesses a powerful magic potion that turns every book it touches into a portal, the portal potion, and he’s recruiting an army of literature's greatest villains! alex and conner race after him through many classic tales. they end up in the queen of hearts castle in wonderland and some of them fall into his trap, a book with a fake cover. the rest discover that lloyd and his army was hiding there. he throws them into another book, but alex and conner both find a page of the wonderful wizard of oz in their pockets and get back to the land of stories. they find out that lloyd has destroyed the kingdoms and turned the fairy council into stone. conner gets an idea: to go to the otherworld and recruit an army from his own stories.
