You have one pair of jeans and you just destroyed them.
i want / need a new pair of jeans.
i want / need a fancy pair of designer jeans.
your computer just self-destructed.
i want / need a brand new computer.
i want / need a computer, and maybe a used one is better.
you have a new job and you need to get to work and back each day.
i want / need a sports car.
i want / need a car of some type to get to work.
i want / need to get to work, and though a car would be nice, my budget may tell me i need to take the bus.
you love eating out.
i want / need to eat out a lot.
but i don't want / need to eat out a lot. i could eat out less, you know, and save some bucks.

For all of these, being able to have the item/service should be prioritized over its quality. The bare minimum is a need, while more extravagant options are a want.

1. a) need: If there is one of something and it is no longer usable, there will be zero of that item, so a replacement is necessary. b) want: in desperate measures, quality should not be prioritized.

2. a) want: Again, quality shouldn't be prioritized. b) need: Quality is disregarded, having a computer is prioritized.

3. a) want: A sports car is expensive and much more than needed. b) want: there are cheaper options to travel. c) need: A person can not work without the proper transport to get to the job, the budget is prioritized.

4. a) want: Eating out is expensive and not necessary. b) need: Eating at home, for example, works just as well.

i have read the novel roll of thunder hear my cry by mildred d. taylor.

1. this isn't like any other story i've read or watched because it is about a black family in mississippi right after slavery in the u.s. had become illegal. most of the novels i have read were about slavery. another point is that the author of the novel used symbolism in a way i haven't seen before. for example she uses thunder as something negative meaning something bad will happen. but by the end of the novel, she made thunder a good thing.

2.   one character that changed during the novel was stacey. stacey is the eldest child of the black logan family. around the begging of the novel stacey was avoiding the white boy jeremy simms. he had a dislike for jeremy's family. but at the end of the novel stacey began to like jeremy.

3. the author starts the novel with the problem that the children of the logan family have to avoid the white kid school bus while walking to school.
