Although Brutus is not a bad man, he has been persuaded to conspire against Caesar, and has now killed him. He has the task of explaining his actions to a mob of Roman citizens, and he is almost successful in doing so. However, when Antony speaks too, he is able to turn the crowd against the conspirators. This turns out to be a catastrophe, as Brutus and Cassius end up being driven from Rome.
