Option A would seem like the correct answer, but it is not. Travelers on the trail did *not* pack fruits and vegetables in their wagon. The first reason is because the fruits and vegetables would go bad in about a day. The second reason is that not everyone had access to these fruits and vegetables. Also, they couldn't just eat them every day and get new ones. There were hardly any stores that they could buy them from, and it would take way to long to grow them.

Option B is also incorrect. They would not purchase a dairy cow, seeing that the cow could die easily from lack of food and water, disease, etc. Milk is also not great / full nourishment. You can't just eat dairy and milk for a meal, and some people might have been allergic to dairy.
