In the short allegorical story "The Black Sheep" by Italo Calvino, the unnamed man is the unchanging force that led to a change in the whole society. This non-conformist story shows the effect of one change which always leads to the whole society affected by it.

The honest man's acceptance of not staying at home resolves the conflict of interest between what he wants and what the society expects from him. He did not participate in the robbing but he did not stop the others from losing out of their 'right' either. This differing aspects of the man and the society's belief and 'pattern' of a man robbing his neighbor presents him the conflict. His belief that he must not stop someone from getting rich while at the same time he himself must not conform to the norm of the village presents the conflict in the given passage.
