Write a new topic sentence for the following paragraph. body paragraph #2 although many people believe that the great depression was an economic disaster, it was also a social disaster and ruined many lives. the man’s role as provider and head of the household became difficult because there were fewer jobs causing a great disruption in family roles. as the depression went on, more and more men lost their jobs. many started stealing food and money because they couldn’t find work. many distressed fathers even committed suicide because their lives were so miserable (“social”). children were expected to go to school, but they also had to work like adults. during the 1930s, fathers began to have a larger role in raising their children. as a result of the great depression, the government created programs such as the ccc, wpa, tva, and social security (“social”). these programs created a precedent for government assistance to support people struggling with poverty.
