The american author Iris Chang, in her account of the Nanjing Massacre, also known as "the Ravishment of Nanking", (event occurred over 6 weeks between 1937 and 1938) experienced by Chinese citizens and soldiers under the Japanese army, during the Sino-Japanese War, emphasizes that history must not be forgotten, that by not remembering the past, people become victims of it.
