"percy jackson has never been "normal" in his life. he doesn’t even understand what normal means, but he’s pretty sure it isn’t someone who has attended six different schools in six years. percy has many problems—one of which is getting kicked out of school, repeatedly, through no fault of his own. it’s just that where percy is, trouble is. he attracts trouble, no matter how hard he tries to lay low and keep his quirks hidden. this kid even gets in trouble for paying attention in class—his teacher keeps giving him “the look” when he tells the other students to shut up. he’s a loner. he’s a dummy. he even calls himself “a troubled kid.” he’s the poor kid in a rich-kid school, and he isn’t too thrilled with that fact. he’s from a single-parent home. he’s dyslexic. and, to top it all off, percy is a demi-god. that’s something he really isn’t happy about. but, it does make him exceptionally brave, give him great instincts, and, somehow, keeps him humble. there is no tempting percy into wrongdoing! through it all, though, percy remains grateful for the little things in life."
