there are various instances of prejudice in the text. first, captain arthur keller doubts whether annie sullivan, who is blind, would be able to teach his blind daughter helen. besides, annie is from the north, so the kellers (who come from the south) are uncertain about her teaching abilities.

finally, the teachers have preconceptions about helen. at first they not do believe she can learn because of her disability. however, she proves them wrong.
