Beatrice and Benedick speak in prose, which is unusual because they’re constantly in war with each other through their words.  

In the play “Much Ado About Nothing” Shakespeare used both verse and prose in it. As prose represents a language of logical thought, while verse is the language of emotion and self-reflection. It was during Shakespeare’s time that when a dramatic character speaks in poetry it speaks from his heart rather than in prose. Beatrice and Benedick spoke in prose to provide logic and substantial in their arguments against each other. Benedick used witty prose to defend himself and Beatrice used prose to decrease her emotional appeal in her arguments.
