When we write a review about a book, an essay, or an article, for example, our purpose is to evaluate the work in terms of quality. That will, of course, include several points to take into consideration, one of them being the work's strengths and weaknesses. For example, we might read a fiction book that happens to have a lot of potential. The story is quite original and has some exciting elements to it. However, it may have a deficient setting description. We are not completely able to understand the time period or the places where the story unfolds.

A review is not supposed to revise. Revise means correct, polish the work. It does not aim to change the author's behavior or the entertain readers as well. The work is already done. Reviewing it means assessing its quality. The author won't change what he has already published according to what a review says. Finally, readers should not read a review expecting to be entertained, but rather to be informed of something.
