An estimate of the uncertainty for the concentration of an unknown sample can be determined based on the uncertainty in the calibration data set and the unknown sample analysis. The uncertainty (Sx) value is unitless when using the internal standard method of calibration. The uncertainty needs to be expressed in terms of the concentration units used for the standards (i. e. ppm). Calculated the uncertainty value in terms of concentration (Sc) for the diluted AND undiluted sample based on the following information. Uncertainty (Sx; unitless) based on the calibration data set and the unknown sample. Sx = 0.0152

Sample preparation: A whiskey sample is prepared for analysis by GC-FID using the internal standard method of calibration. A 20 mL sample is transferred using a volumetric pipet to a 50 mL volumetric flask. A volume of stock solution of the internal standard is added to the sample flask. The flask is diluted to volume.

Concentration of the internal standard in the diluted unknown = 500 ppm.

A. Sc(dilute) = 8 ppm, Sc(undilute) = 20 ppm
B. Sc(dilute) = 7 ppm, Sc(undilute) = 19 ppm
C. Sc(dilute) = 7.75 ppm, Sc(undilute) = 19.31 ppm
D. Sc(dilute) = 8 ppm, Sc(undilute) = 30 ppm

Amass of m 1.5 kg of steam is contained in a closed rigid container. initially the pressure and temperature of the steam are: p 1.5 mpa and t 240°c (superheated state), respectively. then the temperature drops to t2= 100°c as the result of heat transfer to the surroundings. determine: a) quality of the steam at the end of the process, b) heat transfer with the surroundings. for: p1.5 mpa and t 240°c: enthalpy of superheated vapour is 2900 kj/kg, specific volume of superheated vapour is 0. 1483 m/kg, while for t 100°c: enthalpy of saturated liquid water is 419kj/kg, specific volume of saturated liquid water is 0.001043m/kg, enthalpy of saturated vapour is 2676 kj/kg, specific volume of saturated vapour is 1.672 m/kg and pressure is 0.1 mpa.

Two flowing streams of argon gas are adiabatically mixed to form a single flow/stream. one stream is 1.5 kg/s at 400 kpa and 200 c while the second stream is 2kg/s at 500 kpa and 100 ? . it is stated that the exit state of the mixed single flow of argon gas is 150 c and 300 kpa. assuming there is no work output or input during the mixing process, does this process violate either the first or the second law or both? explain and state all your assumptions.
