The Biscayne Aquifer, one of the most permeable in the world, consists of two major layers: the Miami Limestone Formation (MLF), and the Fort Thomson Formation (FTF). In one particular area, the MLF extends from ground surface at 2.44 m to -3.0 m, and the FTF extends from -3.0 m to -15.24 m. The hydraulic conductivity of the MLF and FTF is 1500 m/d and 12000 m/d respectively. a) Draw a schematic representing canals and aquifers.
b) Calculate the flow rate between two fully penetrating canals 1 km apart, when the water elevations in the two canals are 1.07 m and 1.00 m. All elevations are NGVD.

Refrigerant-134a enters the compressor of a refrigerator as superheated vapor at 0.14 mpa and -10°c at a rate of 0.05 ka/s and leaves at 0.8 mpa and 50°c. the refrigerant is cooied in the condenser to 0.72 mpa and 26'c. it is then throttled to 0.15 mpa. sketch the t-s diagram for the system and evaluate: 6) the rate of heat removai from the refrigerated space (kw), it) the power input to the compressor (kw), ii) the isentropic efficiency of the compressor (%), and iv) the cop of the refrigerator.

At steady state, air at 200 kpa, 325 k, and mass flow rate of 0.5 kg/s enters an insulated duct having differing inlet and exit cross-sectional areas. the inlet cross-sectional area is 6 cm2. at the duct exit, the pressure of the air is 100 kpa and the velocity is 250 m/s. neglecting potential energy effects and modeling air as an 1.008 kj/kg k, determine ideal gas with constant cp = (a) the velocity of the air at the inlet, in m/s. (b) the temperature of the air at the exit, in k. (c) the exit cross-sectional area, in cm2
