A well-insulated 1 m × 1 m × 0.5 m icebox initially at 20°C is to be cooled by a placing a cooling 200 L refrigerant cylinder. The Refrigerant used is R-134a at 160
kPa such that half of the cylinder is filled by liquid R-134a while the other half
contains R-134a in vapor phase. A 260 W DC fan is used to distribute the air inside
the box. As a result of heat transfer from the box to the cooling cylinder, the pressure
of the refrigerant reaches 500 kPa after 45 min. Assume constant specific heats for
the air at the box and the air pressure remains constant at 100 kPa; Determine
1- The mass of the refrigerant inside the cylinder.
2- The rate of heat transfer from the room to the refrigerant.
3- The mass of air in the box.
4- The final temperature of the box.

Two flowing streams of argon gas are adiabatically mixed to form a single flow/stream. one stream is 1.5 kg/s at 400 kpa and 200 c while the second stream is 2kg/s at 500 kpa and 100 ? . it is stated that the exit state of the mixed single flow of argon gas is 150 c and 300 kpa. assuming there is no work output or input during the mixing process, does this process violate either the first or the second law or both? explain and state all your assumptions.
