A window-mounted air conditioner supplies 19 m3/min of air at 15oC, 1 bar to a room. Air returns from the room to the evaporator of the unit at 22oC. The air conditioner operates at steady state on a vapor-compression refrigeration cycle with Refrigerant-22 entering the compressor at 4 bar, 10oC. Saturated liquid refrigerant at 9 bar leaves the condenser. The compressor has an isentropic efficiency of 70%, and refrigerant exits the compressor at 9 bar. Determine the compressor power, in kW, the refrigeration capacity, in kW, and the coefficient of performance.

Acompressor compresses a gas, a pump compresses a liquid. for a given pressure ratio, why does it take more work to compress a gas in a compressor than a liquid in a pump? a)- for a given pressure ratio the average specific volume for a gas is much higher than the average specific volume for a liquid. b)- there is no difference. the only difference is the amount of heat generated (not work) c)- for a given pressure ratio the average volurge for a gas is much higher than the average volume for a liquid. d)-there is no difference

An insulated tank truck containing 50,000 pounds of double-distilled, deionized water at 30 °c is pumped into a closed, refrigerated storage tank maintained at 5 °c in a facility located on top of mount mitchell, north carolina (elevation 6,684 feet & average july temperature of 84 °f). a)-determine the volume of the storage tank required to hold the purified water. b)- determine the initial and final pressure differences that must be overcome by a liquid pump assuming the storage tank initially contains air at 5 °c. assume the air is slowly bled out of the storage tank during the water transfer c.) during a routine operation today, the tank is slightly ruptured by a stainless steel pipe and a water acrosol of droplets begins to spray out of the storage tank. state all assumptions and determine the internal pressure within the water droplets produced
