Assignment Directions Sometimes a client will want you to analyze an object without tearing it apart. While this is not nearly as much fun, the analysis can still provide a large amount of data for an engineer. You may choose to create a Function Structure Diagram for an object (with or without teardown) or a Product Teardown Chart. You may choose any household item or perhaps a broken device, like an old mobile phone or remote control. While diagrams and charts provide valuable information for an engineer, they are typically more technological than a client or decision team needs. Therefore, you will also need to complete a 200- to 400-word analysis of the device, including a functional analysis of the product as a whole and each of the components you observed. All information must be supported by your chart or diagram. Be sure to address the information in the lesson in your analysis as well.

Assignment Guidelines

a complete Product Teardown Chart or Function Structure Diagram
a written analysis of the device with supporting details from the chart or diagram
