An aircraft flying at a true airspeed of 200 m/s ispowered by a turbofan engine with a bypass ratio of 5:1. The mass flow rate into the enginecore is 20 kg/s and the fuel consumption is 2.0 kg/s. The average velocity of the dischargeflow velocity from the engine core is 410 m/s and from the bypass fan it is 270 m/s. Allvelocities are measured with respect to a ground based reference system. Neglect all pressuredifference effects.(a) Sketch a control volume that properly defines this problem, showing the flow throughthe engine core and also the bypass stage.(b) Determine the thrust developed by this turbofan engine.(c) Determine the equivalent power developed by this engine.
