A little boy is fishing off of a dock with a homemade fishing pole that consists of a 3m long piece of twine tied to the end of a broomstick (Position β€˜P’), with a hook at the other end of the twine. The boy is lying on his belly with the end of the fishing pole in his hand when he gets a bite! The hooked fish darts off to Position β€˜H’ at which point the twine is taut and the system is in static equilibrium. If the fish is exerting a force of 18N, and the broomstick has a weight of 4N with center of mass marked as Position β€˜C’: A) Determine the force exerted by the fish as a vector.
B) Calculate the reaction (Force and Moment) that is exerted by the boy in order to maintain static equilibrium. A little boy is fishing off of a dock with a homem

An external consultant recommends that a plant installs a bank of capacitors for power factor correction. this will reduce the peak electrical demand charges by an average of 93 kw every month. the plant current pays $13 per kw in peak demand charges. the capacitor bank will include 223 kw of fixed capacitors, and 183 of variable capacitors. the fixed capacitors cost $59 per kw, and the variable capacitors will cost $65 per kw. the consultant charges 21% of the equipment costs to install the capacitors. because this project will reduce the demand for the electric utility, they are prepared to provide a one-time rebate of $42 per kw of reduced demand. what is the simple payback period for this project (in years)?
