A 20 wt% Na2SO4 solution is fed at a rate of 20 lb/min. into a mixer that initially hold 400 lb of a 50 wt% Na2SO4 solution. The exit solution leaves at a rate of 15 lb/min. Assume perfect mixing, the mass fraction x of Na2SO4 as a function of time can be determined from the following equation:. (a) What is the total mass in the mixer at the end of 10 minutes?
(b) What is the concentration of Na2SO4 in the mixer at the end of 10 minutes?
(c) How long will it take for the mass fraction of Na2SO4 in the tank to reduce to 0.35?
