Clear Creek Tunnel (5.33 m diameter; 17.22 km long) is part ofthe Trinity River Division and is designed to conveywater from Lewiston Reservoir (elev. 580 m a. s.l.) to the J. F. Carr Powerplant at Whiskeytown Reservoir (elev. 366 m a. s.l.). The measured flow rate into the lower reservoir is 11.2 m3/s. Assume that the tunnel is fabricated from concrete(coarse). Answer the following questions: a. Set-up the full energy equation and then state what assumptions you would make to rule out different terms.
b. Calculate the estimated frictional loss through the system. Does this match the change in elevation head? Why / why not?
c. Sketch the expected EGL / HGL from the free surface of Trinity Reservoir through the Whiskeytown Reservoir stating all assumptions.
