Two balanced three phase motors in parallel, an induction motor drawing 400 kW at 0.8 power factor lagging and a synchronous motor drawing 150 kVA at 0.9 power factor leading, are supplied by a balanced, three-phase 4160 V (rms, line-to-line) source. Line impedances between the source and load are neglected. Required:
a. Determine the magnitude of the line current delivered by the source.
b. A delta-connected capacitor bank is now installed in parallel with the combined-motor hat vatue of capacitive reactance is required in each leg of the capacitor bank to make the source power factor unity? How many capacitors are needed?
c. Determine the magnitude of the line current delivered by the source with the capacitor bank installed.
d. Calculate the load factor if you know that the a A balanced nositive suuons verage load is half of the peak load.

Two flowing streams of argon gas are adiabatically mixed to form a single flow/stream. one stream is 1.5 kg/s at 400 kpa and 200 c while the second stream is 2kg/s at 500 kpa and 100 ? . it is stated that the exit state of the mixed single flow of argon gas is 150 c and 300 kpa. assuming there is no work output or input during the mixing process, does this process violate either the first or the second law or both? explain and state all your assumptions.
