A centrifugal compressor has a relative flow angle of 26⁰ leaving the impellor. The axial and radial velocities entering and exiting the impellor are 100 m/s and 120 m/s, respectively. The blade tip speed leaving the impellor is U2 = 500 m/s with a mass flow rate 2.5 kg/s. The compressor efficiency is ηc = 80 % and the mechanical efficiency is ηm = 95 %.(a) Sketch the velocity triangle at the impellor exit. Be sure to mark all the angles and velocities. Calculate the (b) work per unit mass wc, (c) actual power P needed to drive the compressor, (d) stagnation temperature exiting the impellor (T₀₂), (e) stagnation pressure exiting the impellor (p₀₂),

Use γ = 1.4 and R = 287 J/kg K or (m/s)²/K (unless specified) -
Use T₀₁ = 288 K, p₀₁ = 101 kPa and rho = 1.2 kg/m3 (unless specified) -
Assume all efficiencies are unity (unless specified)

Air (c-1.006 kj/kg.k, r-0.287 kj/kg.k) enters a nozzle steadily at 280 kpa and 77°c with a velocity of 50 m/s and exits at 85 kpa and 320 m/s. the heat losses from the nozzle to the surrounding medium at 20°c are estimated to be 3.2 kj/kg. determine (a) the exit temperature and (b) the total entropy change for this process. solve this problem using constant specific heats.
