Consider a rack system with a storage rack of dimensions (inches) of 56m (length) by 58n (height), where m is the number of horizontal addresses and n is the number of ver>cal addresses. Assume m = 80, n = 12, and that the S/R requires 0.35 min to perform a P/D opera>on, travels horizontally at an average speed of 350 fpm, and travels ver>cally at an average speed of 60 fpm.

Suppose that 40% of storage and retrieval opera>ons are performed as single command and the remaining are performed as dual command. Assume that there are 120 storages per hr and 120 retrievals per hr and that there are 8 S/R machines that are loaded uniformly.

(i) What is the percent utulization of the S/R machines?

(ii) What is the average cycle time per operation (storage/retrieval)?

(iii) What is the maximum throughput (operations per hour) of this AS/R system?
