You are a water resources engineer designing an irrigation canal that parallels a river for a distance of 35 km. Between the canal and river is an alluvial aquifer with 12 m depth above a confining layer. The mean distance between the planned canal and river is 0.1 km and the alluvium has hydraulic conductivity (Kh) = 0.15 mm/s. Mean water level in the river is 300 m above mean seas level and mean water level in the canal will be 302 m above mean sea level. Estimate:a. the seepage loss rate from the canal to river per 1 km length of canal in cms.
