Water at 20 °C with a mass of 10 kg is in a piston/cylinder assembly with an initial volume of 1 m³. The piston initially resting on the stops has a mass such that a pressure of 150 kPa will float it. Now the water is slowly heated to 150 °C.
(a) Represent the heating process using the appropriate piston-cylinder schematic sequence. Include all the known variables.
(b) Find the initial state (v, T, P, and x in case there is a saturated mixture in the system).
(c) Find the state of the water when the piston is about to rise (v, T, P, and x in case there is a saturated mixture in the system).
