If the feedforward path of a control system contains at least one integrating element, then the output continues to change as long as an error is present. The output stops when the error is precisely zero. If an external disturbance enters the system, it is desirable to have an integrating element between the error-measuring element and the point where the disturbance enters, so that the effect of the external disturbance may be made zero at steady state. Show that, if the disturbance is a ramp function, then the steady-state error due to this ramp disturbance may be eliminated only if two integrators precede the point where the disturbance enters

10 kg of co2 is initially contained at 400 kpa and 300 k. the gas constant for carbon dioxide is 189 j/lkg k) and has a specific heat ratio, k, of 1.289. isentropic expansion then occurs until the pressure is 200 kpa. a) determine the initial volume of co2 in m. b) determine the final temperature in k. c) determine the work done by the system during the expansion kl.

Air (c-1.006 kj/kg.k, r-0.287 kj/kg.k) enters a nozzle steadily at 280 kpa and 77°c with a velocity of 50 m/s and exits at 85 kpa and 320 m/s. the heat losses from the nozzle to the surrounding medium at 20°c are estimated to be 3.2 kj/kg. determine (a) the exit temperature and (b) the total entropy change for this process. solve this problem using constant specific heats.

On solidification from a melt, the polymer polyethylene forms a semi-crystalline spherulite structure. (i) sketch an individual spherulite and label the amorphous and crystalline regions. (ii) draw a schematic to show the changes in specific volume with temperature during cooling from the melt, comparing it to the theoretical extremes of fully crystalline and fully amorphous (indicate tm and tg)
