A. Compute the magnitude of the stresses due to bending, transverse shear and torsion. For the normal stresses, state if they are tensile or compressive.
B. Draw in 3D (as in class) ALL the stresses in an infinitesimal element and label them correctly (x, y,xy, etc.).
C. Draw cubes from the xy plane and draw how this infinitesimal element deforms due to each of the stresses. Making a legible drawing of the combined deformation is not easy, so just try to visualize the combined deformation in your head by adding all the cubes.
