NOTE: This is a multi-part question. Once an answer is submitted, you will be unable to return to this part. A steam power plant operates on an ideal reheat–regenerative Rankine cycle and has a net power output of 120 MW. Steam enters the high-pressure turbine at 10 MPa and 550°C and leaves at 0.8 MPa. Some steam is extracted at this pressure to heat the feed water in an open feedwater heater. The rest of the steam is reheated to 500°C and is expanded in the low-pressure turbine to the condenser pressure of 10 kPa.

Determine the quality (or temperature, if superheated) of the steam at the turbine exit. Use steam tables. (You must provide an answer before moving on to the next part.)
Determine the thermal efficiency of the cycle. Use steam tables.
Determine the mass flow rate of the steam.

For the closed feedwater heater below, feedwater enters state 3 at a pressure of 2000 psia and temperature of 420 °f at a rate of ix10 ibhr. the feedwat extracted steam enters state 1 at a pressure of 1000 psia and enthalpy of 1500 btu/lbm. the extracted er leaves at an enthalpy of 528.7 btu/lbm steam leaves as a saturated liquid. (16) a) determine the mass flow rate of the extraction steam used to heat the feedwater (10) b) determine the terminal temperature difference of the closed feedwater heater
