Elevation

The elevation is a sketch that shows the front or side of something. A floor plan, on the other hand, shows a space from above, as if looking at the room from the ceiling. Therefore, you can see the top of everything, but you cannot see the front, side, or back of an object. An elevation gives you the opportunity to see everything from the other points of view.

Datum

A reference reference or simply reference is an important part of an object, such as a point, line, plane, hole, set of holes or a pair of surfaces, which serves as a reference to define the geometry of the object and (often) in measuring aspects of real geometry to assess how closely they match the nominal value.

Benchmark

A reference point is a reference point by which something can be measured. In topography, a "reference mark" (two words) is a publication or other permanent mark established at a known elevation that is used as a basis for measuring the elevation of other topographic points.

Back Sight

A view or orientation on a previously established recognition point (other than a closing or control point), taken in the backward direction.

Height of Instrument
