Heat pump (20%) a heat pump using refrigerant-134a as the working fluid is composed of a compressor, condenser, expansion valve and an evaporator. the isentropic efficiency of the compressor is 64% while all of the other components can be assumed to behave ideally. as the refrigerant exits the evaporator and enters the compressor state 1) it is a saturated vapor with a pressure of p = 0.28 mpa. the refrigerant leaves the compressor and enters the condenser (state 2) with a pressure of p2 = 0.7 mpa where it looses heat to the surroundings until it exits the condenser (state 3) as a saturated liquid. the refrigerant is then expanded through a throttling valve until it reaches the evaporator pressure (state 4). the refrigerant flows at a rate of 0.05 kg/s. address the following: (a) draw a t-s diagram of the vapor-compression cycle. label states 1-4 based on the problem description. (b) determine the power supplied to the compressor. [kw] (c) determine the actual coefficient of performance of the heat pump, cophp. now, a new liquid-cooled compressor is installed in place of the previous compressor. the new compressor still has an isentropic efficiency of 64%, however, there is entropy transfer of sout = 0.0459 kj/kg-k out of the compressor with the heat. address the following: (d) determine the new coefficient of performance of the heat pump, cophp. (e) draw the liquid-cooled compressor process on the t-s diagram as a dashed line and label the state at the compressor exit as state 2'. *note: use closest table values; no interpolation necessary for this problem.
