Adecision is needed regarding the type of isolator (suspension) to use with a machine that has some unbalance. when placed on an isolator having springs alone, the machine weight causes a 3 mm deflection. when the machine is run at 300 rpn supported on four steel springs both the motion of the machine and force transmitted to the supporting structure are marginally acceptable. a colleague has recommended that the machine be run at a higher speed (500 rpm) and that a different isolator be used. the proposed isolator is defleted by 4 m under static load and has a damping ratio of 0.25. do you concur with the recommendation? justify your response in terms of both machine motion and foe transmitted to the structure.
