Low-carbon steel is known to have a slight but not negligible strain-rate sensitivity at room temperature. to determine the sensitivity, specimens of w = 12.68 mm width, h = 3.23 mm thickness, an l = 50 mm gage length were tested with a cross head speed of 6 mm/min until a load of 10660 n was reached. at this point speed was instantaneously increased tenfold to 60 mm/min and load increased to 11096 n. calculate (a) the strain rate sensitivity exponent and (b) strength constant.
