Asmooth flat plate of length l = 6 m and width b = 4 m is placed in water with an upstream velocity of u = 0.5 m/s. using water properties at 300 k and assuming a laminar boundary layer, determine the boundary layer thickness and the wall shear stress (local value) at the center and at the trailing edge of the plate. determine also the average shear stress and the drag due to friction. was it a good assumption to assume that the boundary layer is laminar?
