Consider a building with 8 floors. On each floor, there are 8 PCs and all the PCs connected to a local network (Ethernet). All those local networks (8 of them, each on one floor) are connected to a router. The IP address range allocated to the building is 200.201.202.0-200.201.202.255. In the questions below, please explain the steps you used to determine the solution (Do not just write the final answer. You will not receive full scores if you do so.) 1. We would like to allocate subnets such that each floor has a separate subnet. What is the subnet mask and IP addresses of the computers on 5th floor? (Suppose the higher floors gets higher IP addresses.)
2. How many PCs can be added on each floor without changing the subnet mask?
3. How many floors (with 8 PCs on each floor) can be added to the building without changing the subnet mask?
4. Due to a reconstruction, all 8 PCs on the 8th floor will be moved to the 7th floor. Can subletting still be used such that each floor will have a separate subnet? If yes, what is the subnet mask? If no, explain why?
5. Suppose you use subnets and you are free to determine how many subnets you will have in the building and how many PCs you will connect to each subnet. What is the maximum number of PCs that can be connected?
