Scenario:
You are the Network Administrator for a law firm that has one large office in Atlanta, GA. The IT Manager has just informed you that the law firm will be merging with another law firm that has three offices in North Carolina. The three offices will need to be brought into the existing Windows Server network infrastructure.
The first office, which is in Raleigh, NC, has a total of (25) workstations, (8) printers, (3) servers, (2) 24-port switches, and a router.
The second office, which is in Charlotte, NC, has a total of (38) workstations, (10) printers, (3) 24 port switches, and a router.
The third office, which is in Greensboro, NC, has a total of (20) workstations, (4) printers, (2) 24 port switches, and a router.
Your manager has given you the 192.168.10.0/24 address space to use for all three offices, and he wants each office to be on a separate subnet. Each subnet should have a total of 64 addresses. As a result, you need to break up the 192.168.10.0/24 network into smaller subnets, each of which has 64 addresses.
Part 1: Determine the IP range of the three subnets and assign the first subnet to the Raleigh office. The second subnet should be assigned to the Charlotte office, and the third subnet should be assigned to the Greensboro office. Unit 2 labs are associated with this part.
Part 2: For each subnet, identify the range of addresses will be used for the workstations, printers, switches, and the router (default gateway). Think about how you will assign IP addresses consistently in all three offices. Unit 3 labs are associated with this part.
Part 3: Develop a detailed plan for configuring the DHCP server for each office. Be sure to address all necessary requirements. Unit 4 labs are associated with this part.
Part 4: The law firms existing Active Directory domain is darbyanddarby. com, and the newly added offices will need to be configured as child domains (sub-domains). Design a naming structure for each of the child domains. Unit 6 labs are associated with this part.
Part 5: Develop an overall plan for how you will use DFS and BranchCache in order to optimize file services for all offices. Unit 6 labs are associated with this part.
Instructions on submitting the project:
Submit a formal paper that includes: an introduction, fully-developed descriptions of each part, screenshots associated with the work that you did in each part (where appropriate), and references in APA format. Review the rubric for further details. Screenshots can be from your work earlier this term, and/or you can use images from other sources, just be sure to cite them.
