In this project ,you perform bit -shifting on file and verify that that the file can be restored.

Step 1. Start notepad and type in the following in a new text document :This document contains very sensitive information. We do not want the competition to be able to read it if they intercept the message.

Step 2 . Save the file as correspondance. txt in your work folder, then exit notepad

Step 3. Start Win Hex and open correspondance. txt file

Step 4. Click Edit, Select All from the menu

Step 5 . Click ,edit, modify Data from the menu .In the modify block data dialog box, click Circular left rotation option button and click OK.

Step 6 . Save the file as correspondance1.txt and ext Win Hex

Step 7. Restart Win Hex ,and open correspondance1.txt ,click Edit ,Select all from menu

Step 8 . With the file 's contents highlighted, click Edit ,Modify data from the menu. In the Modify Block Data dialog box ,click the Circular left rotation option button, if necessary ,to necessary ,to rotate the bits ,and then click OK. Repeat this step seven times to verify that you can recover the data .

Step 9 . When you have recovered the text to a readable state ,save it as correspondance2.txt
