Both Fiber Channel and ATM provide alternatives to present and future issues with network bandwidth. The technology selected by a network manager should be based on thorough assessment not only of their lease requirements, but also of their future requirements.

Fiber Channel and ATM LAN's are similar in these ways-

1. Both support the implementation of technology (such as network and video) and network topologies, it also support protocols for physical media support.

2. Both have a large width of the band and  have greater information rates of scalability , Copper and Fiber are both used as physical medicine.
